What is DC SchoolConnect?
DC SchoolConnect is new program to provide students a safer alternative to get to and from schools. Launching for the 2021-22 school year, DC SchoolConnect will serve 25 elementary, middle, and high schools via dedicated shuttles. DC SchoolConnect will provide services to students in grades 1-12.
The Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV) has been tasked by the Executive Office of the Mayor to launch and facilitate the DC SchoolConnect Program. The DFHV is collaborating with other District agencies and stakeholders including District Students, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and Public Charter Schools (DCPCS) to ensure that this program is efficient and successfully implemented and managed.

Where does DC SchoolConnect operate?
DC SchoolConnect operates in four Safe Passage zones in Wards 7 and 8.
Parents – Get the VIP App!
The DC SchoolConnect transportation provider offers the VIP (Very Important Passenger) App to the families and caregivers of students receiving transportation through ALC Schools. With the VIP app, parents/guardians can track and manage their student’s transportation. The VIP app offers both useful functionality and peace of mind. The VIP app allows for parents/guardians to:
- Track the location of their student in real-time during transportation service.
- View updated ETAs of when their student will arrive based on actual driver location and real-time traffic data.
- Get notification when their student gets picked up and dropped off at both DC SchoolConnect stop and school.
- Get a notification if there is a substitute driver.
